So...it's after Christmas, and I have a wad of cash to blow on something, but what?

I woke up Friday morning and decided I finally wanted to get my tongue pierced. After years of wanting to get this done and being a big chicken I finally told my fiance that this was the day to do it. Well, knowing that since I told him there was no way out of it. We got up and got ready to go. After reading probably 50 of the stories on here I was ready to get my new toy. The whole way to the place I kept asking my fiance what it felt like, if it hurt, what would I sound like after etc. He finally looked at me and told me to find out for myself with a big grin across his face. All I could think was Oh My God it's going to hurt worse than my nipple rings (which wasn't bad at all I might add).

So we got to 3rd Eye and I was ready to go...scared shitless and all but I was going to have my barbell. I talked to the guy at the counter and told him I wanted to get my tongue pierced. He laughed at me and said not to worry it's not a big deal and then went to point to the couch towards this guy talking on a cell phone. He said that was my piercer and as soon as he was done we'd be ready to go. So there I was...sitting in front of this man about to pee on myself with excitment/nervousness. He finally got done and we proceeded to start the paper work and he got a copy of my license (I look like I'm 16 at the oldest unfortunately).

He told me it would be a minute to let him go and get everything ready. I knew it was almost time and my fiance wasn't going to let me chicken out now. As I was waiting, we laughed about a sign on their wall that says "Tipping is not a city in China," and I heard a voice that said come on back Emily. I asked how bad this was going to be and he said it's nothing at all so not to worry. He sat me down on a weight bench and was getting his gloves on. I looked over to my right and this guy getting a full back tattoo was waiting for this to happen. So I was told to stick my tongue out and he put this nasty germ killer crap on my tongue and then marked it, clamped it and said "Are you ready"? He told me to relax and put the needle on the bottom of my tongue. I could feel the tip on the bottom of my tongue which made me a bit uncomfortable. He told me to be still it would be over in just a second. All of a sudden felt like I just bit my tongue really hard and he told me that was i t the worst part was over. I got ahead of myself and started to put my tongue back in my mouth and he said no no no out out out and we all kind of laughed. I then felt the barbell go in my mouth and the needle come out (which to me was the worst part when he pulled that sucker out).

He told me I was done and I said "that's it"? Kind of silly and then jumped up and ran to the mirror to see it. Oh what an awesome site to see the sparkle of my new barbell. I asked the guy if it was metal and he said "to be exact it's titanium." So walking on the way back towards them I looked at the guy getting his tattoo and he smiled and gave me a thumbs up which made me laugh. I paid the guy and tipped him cause u know...tipping is not a city in China. He gave me a care sheet and told me I could eat anything I wanted, but to be on the safe side to eat soft stuff for the first few days.

So there I had it! Finally! after all of these years, I had my tongue ring. The days following weren't bad at all. It's been 5 days and I'm doing fine. No pain, the swelling is almost gone completely and I'm almost able to talk normal again. I'm almost 100% used to my ring now (which is one of the strangest things you have to learn with it). So I'm telling everyone that desires to do this...please go do it. There's nothing to it and you'll love the fact that you did it. I promise!!!
