I have always wanted my tongue pierced, and never really had the initiative to do it. Not to mention my parents were never up for the idea. People always asked why I wanted to do it. Well I personally think it looks cool, can be fun to play with, and it also has many other things to offer. Last week, I started to think about getting my tongue pierced again. This time I took the initiative and talked to my dad. He said "No, that's stupid." Then after prying and proding him, he said I could if my mom said it was alright. I called my mom and she said that was fine, just to be safe. Earlier last week, I found BME and it helped me make my decision. Its an awesome site that tells you what can happen if you don't take proper care of your piercing. It also shows what a beautiful, clean adornment it can be if you take proper care of it.

After talking to some friends about it, and looking over the subject a LOT, I decided I wanted to do it. I decided to do it with Sachs because they have a great reputation and they are really clean. They had an ad in the paper " Free Tongue Piercing w/ this ad through January." I called them and they told me the piercing was free, but I had to pay for the ring. They would also downsize it once it was healed. I was ready.

After talking to my dad some more, he said I could get it done. So I waited until my grandma got home and I asked if she would take me. She told me she would. I was so anxious and at the same time nervous. First, we went to lunch. I ate a good meal, because I wasn't sure if I could have solid food for a couple of days. We finished our meal and drove to Sachs. We parked and I walked in and asked the lady if they had time for a tongue piercing. I gave her the ad and we paid $31.72 for the ring and downsizing. After giving ID and my grandma's, we signed a release and met Joe.

We walked down the hall into a room. The setting was really nice, it was very clean and seemed kind of like a hospital. He asked me to sit down on this hospital bed looking thing. He intoduced himself and told me about the piercing's aftercare. I asked him how he does it. He showed me everything he was going to use and explained the process. I asked him if it hurts more than cartildge and he told me he personally didn't think so. I started to get nervous. I asked if the piercing would bleed and he said maybe, but not horribly. He asked if I was ready and I nodded.

He moved the silver tray on wheels over my lap; then we washed his hands. He asked me to use this mouth-wash it was " Tech 2000." I rinsed for 30 seconds and spit back into the cup. My grandma had to be in the room with me and looked as nervous as I was. He dried off my tongue with gauze. He got the " Forcips," I believe thats what their called.

He clamped my tongue with them and lifted my tongue to see where he was going to center the piercing. He took the needle out of the package, smiled and said " Breath in and on the exhale I'm going to pierce it." I closed my eyes and took a deep breath. In the back of my mind....I was counting....1...2....3. I felt a quick pain( it felt like I bit my tongue really hard but fast) and he said " That's that." He put in the double thread barbell, and that was it. I couldn't believe I did it. I looked in the mirror and there I was with a beautiful tongue piercing.

I stood up and stumbled a bit. He told me I should sit down for a minute and relax. He said " I stumbled when I had my nipples done." and laughed a bit. I thanked him and left. That was January 22 and today is the 23rd. My tongue is a little sore and swollen. I'll live.Getting my tongue pierced was such a rush and it showed me how much fun Body Modification can be. My tongue should be completely healed in 6-8 weeks. I can't wait until then. I think my next piercing may be a " Madonna." That isn't happening any time soon though.

For those fo you who are debating on whether or not to get your tongue pierced, just make sure you really want it. If you do, then I think you'll really love it. Thats my story. I love my piercing and think it makes me more unique. Thanks BME.
