I decided to write to BME about getting my tongue pierced for a second time since I could not find any experiences on this wonderful, wonderful site when I was looking for them for this procedure. I went to Body Treasures, and JD, the owner did my tongue (he actually did both piercings). This put me up to a grand total of 2 tongue piercings (I'm in the process of stretching the first one to an 8ga), 3 lobe, a tragus, an anti-tragus, a belly button, and my 2 wonderful, wonderful tattoos. In my immediate future: a hood piercing and 2 more lobes, with various tattoos I'm crazy about. They always do a great job at Body Treasure, and the people working there are so nice and tell you the truth about everything. these guys are so nice that they turned me down for my first tongue piercing because I was getting it right before the I went to the Anger Management Tour (Fred Durst, if you are reading this, will you marry me?) and they wanted me to be able to take care of it correctly. How cool is that? A piercing parlor who cares so much about its clients that they refused my business until I could take care of it!! I was amazed and they have my business for life now!!! (Sorry guys, you're stuck with me!!)

I wanted to get my tongue pierced again because there are so many girls I know getting their tongues pierced once for the "trend", or whatever. I don't like the fact that people do it for the express purpose of pleasuring their significant other, either (although it is a definite added bonus :O ). I really wanted to show that, yes, I do have my tongue pierced, but I am not like everyone else who has theirs done. I hope that makes sense, but I really don't want to be a part of the trend where women think they're sex kittens just because they flip their tongue ring around sensually. (That's another thing, right now it's very difficult to run the bars along my teeth, which is probably a good thing!)

I was very concerned about hitting the nerve under my tongue and having speech problems (my mother is a Speech-Pathologist, so I've heard all kinds of horror stories), and I really wanted the second one farther back than the first. My first went like this \ , and he made my second like this / , to form an X and miss the nerve. They line up straight down the middle and you can't tell they're at angles unless you look at the bottom. My speech is not altered at all, since it was farther back.

I had wanted my tongue done again for quite awhile, and I was in mood to get pointy objects shoved through my skin, so I figured, why not? I used the bar they pierced my first tongue piercing with to keep the cost down (I am an utterly broke college student). They autoclaved the bar and everything, so I had to sit and contemplate for awhile. While contemplating, I decided to come back and get my hood pierced (something I've been considering forever--thanks so much for putting the experiences and pictures up, BME!!!!), but promised myself to pay off my credit card first (sigh).

But anyway, back to my tongue...

JD set up and everything, and marked the center of my tongue to make sure he was even down the middle. He dried my tongue and clamped it and then decided he didn't like the placing. So he re-marked me (this guy is really good at making your piercings perfect) and clamped me again. The piercing itself didn't hurt, as all you holey-tongue people know, you really only feel the needle sliding through. The clamp, however, almost killed me. I swear to God, I thought my tongue was going to shrivel up, turn black and fall off!! Well, not really, but it did hurt. I thought the needle was what was hurting and I was really scared because I thought he had hit that nerve. The good news is that as soon as the clamp came off, it felt great. I could hardly feel any pain, and he did not pierce the nerve (thank God!!). I love the feel of my 2 balls im my mouth (laugh if you want--I put that on purpose for all you sick people!!!) and it hasn't really swollen at all (this was done about 5 hours ago). Truth be told, the only pain I have is under my tongue on the bottom of my mouth where the ball is sitting, but that happened with my first one, and it will go away pretty soon (hopefully).

If you are thinking about a double tongue, by all means do it!! It feels really great (afterwards, of course) and looks pretty (at least I think so--my friends all reacted with gasps of horror).

If you have any questions, feel free to email and ask me!! I would love to put you at ease about the procedure or any concerns you might have that I can help you with.
