At the time I was 17 and I had been wanting to get either my tongue eyebrow
or
labret done. My parents were totally against it and I had a job that
did not allow them
either. My birthday is November 8, 1982 so on my
drivers license it says 11/08/82. One
day I got all irritated and decided
I was going to get my piercings one way or another and
with or without my
parents' permission. So I scratched off the first 1 of my date of birth.
I
tried it out at gas
stations by buying cigarettes and it worked. So
next paycheck I got it and cashed it. Went
down to Sach's around 3:30 pm
and decided to get my tongue pierced. I was kind of
nervous that they
were going to call me stupid and tell me to come back when I really
turn
18 but other than that I was more than ready to have my first piercing. I
showed
them my ID and
boom next thing I know I'm in the room
listening to them tell me aftercare. My boyfriend
was in the room with me
for support and I really think it worked because the closer and
closer we
got to the actually piercing of my tongue the more nervous I got. They
marked
my tongue with a toothpick and clamped my tongue. They told me to
breath in and on the
breath out they were going to pierce my tongue. I
closed my eyes took a breath and felt
the needle go half way in. They
flipped my tongue over and put it the rest of the way. To
my surprise it
didn't even hurt. Until they stuck the barbell in and twisted the ball
on.
They told me I was done and asked me if I had any questions. I told
them no but I asked
them what people usually ask. They told me they
usually didn't. After me and my
boyfriend got out of the store I was all
smiles and drools (it hurt to swallow so I
"slurped"). It felt kind of
strange having something new in my mouth . I got to work at
4pm and I
work at a restaurant so I had to
talk a lot with customers. From talking
so much and having to repeat myself over and
over because no one could
understand me my tongue started hurting really bad. I think I
took a
total of about 20 pain killers. About the third day after I got my tongue
pierced it
hurt pretty bad and I was debating on taking it out or not. My
boyfriend convinced me
that after it healed and the swelling went down
that I would totally feel that the pain was
well worth it. I am glad I
listened to him. I totally enjoy my tongue ring now.
Next thing I wanted
to get done was my labret. So I went back to Sach's again about a
week
before my 18th birthday
and used the same scratched off 1/08/82 ID and
this time they didn't take it. I whined a
little bit and tried to
convince them that it was only about a week before I turned 18 but
they
still said no. I was so
upset and determined to get my labret pierced so
I went down the street to a place called
Hardware (same owners as Sach's)
and it worked. I went in to the back room with a guy
that had a bunch of
implants in his arms. This time my boyfriend and my best friend went
in
with me for support. I don't know if it was a good idea because they kept
making me
laugh and I wasn't listening to anything the guy was telling me.
he marked my chin
showed me the mirror and asked if it looked alright. I
glanced at the mirror and said ya
right away. I was READY. He clamped my
lip told me to breath in and stuck the needle
through. OUCH! This time it
hurt. He just let the clamp and the needle hang while he got
the jewelry.
He put in the stud and when he put the ball on it hurt even more.
Afterwards
I was happy that I got my labret done but I was kind of unsure
of if it looked alright on
me. When I walked in the door of my house my
dad looked at me and said "why the hell
did you do that?" I just told him
back " because I wanted to" It was sore for a couple days
but the pain
was nothing close to the after pain of the tongue. I can't wait to get my
next
piercing but I can't decide on my nipples or my eyebrow.
