I wanted my tongue pierced sooooo bad!!

But there were a few problems: I was totally underage, and my parents would never agree to me piercing anything around my mouth.

Luckily, I have a friend who knows a guy who said he would do it without parental permission. That kinda worried me, untill I found out Mike is a proffesional and has a really good reputation. It took months of planning, and a couple very dissapointing days when it just didn't work out for some reason or another. I had decided to give up on it, I never thought it would happen. Then, a few weeks later, during spring break, my friend called me, and we drove up to Mikes house that afternoon. I still thought that with my luck, it wouldn't get done, so I was not that phsyched....until I was sitting in a chair in the middle of Mikes house, swishing listerine and listining to Mike tell me what he was going to do. That's when it hit me. I was actually getting my tongue pierced!!!! I started sweating, but made myself calm down as I stuck out my tongue and Mike inspected it. He said something about having to go up and back, he had to go around the big vein that goes through my tongue. He said everything looked good, as he make the marks, and set the clamp. That felt kinda weird, but it was alright. Mike took out a new, packaged needle, and was about to do it, when he dropped the needle on the floor. He immediatly threw that one away, and got out a perfectaly new one. That made me a lot less nervous.

"Allright," he said "on the count of three, take a deep breath."

So I did, sticking my tongue out as far as I could, and trying to stay calm at the same time. I heared Mike counting, and on three, I took a deep breath just like he told me to do. I felt the cold needle sliding through my tongue, and it was like the little sting when you get novicane at the dentist. He slipped the jewellery in, screwed on the ball, and that was it!

"You're done!" he said, as I stood up. The whole actual piercing process took under a minute!

Wow, I thought, my tongue is pierced! I didn't totally believe it for a while. When my friend was getting his done, I almost passed out because I hadn't eaten all day or slept the night before. After sitting for a while and drinking some ice water, I felt better and we paid our $38 dollars and left. (The good thing about knowing the guy is you get a discount....yeah!)

We stopped and got our listerine, and then went and showed my best friend. She loved it! All of my other friends loved it too, some thought i was crazy, but I don't care! I love the look on peoples faces when I am in public playing with my barbell, along with my pink hair, I make quite an impression! A lot of my friends want to get piercings now, and I already got my cousins septum and my friends nipple done!

To me, piercings are much more than just putting metal through your body, it is a beautiful form of art, and I know all of my piercings have stories. I got my tongue done with my really good friend, we did it as kind of a connection/friendship thing, to remember all we shared together. I think mindless piercing is kind of stupid, you should know what you want and why.

I hid it from my parents for two and a half weeks, but when they found out, the wern't even that mad. My mom flipped a little bit, but that was expected! They never asked who did it for me, and I was fine with getting it done at Mikes house, but it is a lot easier when you have permission.

I am so very happy with my tongue piercing, I have had it for six weeks as of yesterday. I had hardly any problems, some swelling the first few days, and a little soreness, but not nearly as much as I expected. I do not have to listerine anymore, woohoo! That was the worst part. I think i am going to stretch it to a 10 gauge (I pierced it with a 12 g) but that is all. I am getting my navel done in a few weeks, and my friend is getting his eyebrow. I am also going to do my labret in a couple months. Now I totally understand what people say about getting addicted to this stuff, I am!

My best advice is BE SURE YOU SLEEP AND EAT SOMETHING BEFORE YOU GET PIERCED!!! also, keep it clean!!!! Other than than that, I had a good experiance getting my first piercing (besides my 5 ear piercings) and am very happy with the results. I hope anybody else who decides to get their tongue pierced has as good and experiance as I did! Thanks for listenting to my story, feel free to e-mail me!
