Only one lewd comment so far (And I actually accepted it!) |

I'm not quite sure where I ever came up with the idea of getting anything but my ears pierced. I guess I've always fantasized about being different than everyone else, standing out, doing something that some people wouldn't do in a million years. Not to brag, but I have always thought of myself as a trend setter. Even from elementary school, I was the first to have the coolest chapstick. Not that it was the coolest thing to have xyz chapstick, it just seemed that I had it first and everyone else just kinda started doing it too. Nowadays (in my area) its "in" and "cool" and basically common for a girl to have 2 sets of pierced ears and some cartilage pierced (one to two holes in the cartilage with a stud in each). I was (not to brag at all!) One of the few to get the second holes before everyone else set it up as cool, and I also did my own cartilage before everyone else flocked to the malls to get it done. Well now I've gotten off track and I'll get to the point; my tongue piercing.Once I finally decided on getting my tongue pierced it was only a matter of getting my parents to agree. I begged my mother for about 2.5 weeks before she said " I'll tell you what, if your dad says yes, then you can." She expected him to say no, but he was like "fine, if you want to screw up your life then go right ahead." After a few days I convinced my mother that it was safe and I she promised so she couldn't back down. I made an appointment even though it wasn't necessary and then Saturday at 2:00 p.m. on January 22 (the Saturday before my 15th birthday) I was off to get a "pole shoved through my tongue" as Megan puts it.
I got there with my friend Nancy (hey baby!), paid ($65) and had my father fill out the consent forms and then I was off to the dentist type chair to get it done. Jason (my piercer) made me rinse with Listerine and after that I immediately asked a bunch of questions (what's that for?) despite the fact I had done mondo research. He told me to stick out my tongue and bite down on it to hold it in place. My tongue was trembling in anticipation, I couldn't believe it! I was getting my tongue pierced after so long of thinking it would hurt, and I couldn't handle it and all that rubbish. I was soo excited!! Immediately I closed my eyes and he put the clamp on. I started taking deep breaths before he even told me to and then he said "Start taking deep breaths, and then I'm going to stick the needle through." About the second exhale after he told me to start breathing, he pushed the needle through.
I don't know if it was because I had read so many times that it didn't hurt or the fact that it just didn't (mind over matter) but it didn't hurt in actuality. My tongue just felt kinda warm and like a bit of pressure was put on it. I kept my eyes closed as he said to me "Alright, this might pinch a little while I slide the jewelry through." And despite the fact that I expected it to pinch, it didn't. He finally told me I could open my eyes and put my tongue back into my mouth. My friend Nancy had watched the whole thing and she was kinda stunned and giddy at the same time. She was as happy for me as I was and she also told me she was a bit jealous. Nancy only had her eyebrow done and it's rejecting so she's bummed about that and to boot she has always wanted a tongue piercing too. He told me that it would feel like it's a foot long and it did. Now though, I don't even know its there. After he explained to me about aftercare we discussed his tattoos and his piercings. He turned out to be really fun and I've kept in touch with him since then. I stop by all the time and he gives me discounts on the jewelry. The piercing healed on time and fantastically I was able to talk fine about 6 hrs later and I ate fine about 1-2 days after. My tongue swelled very little and there wasn't much discomfort.
I absolutely adore this piercing and I wouldn't trade it for the world. I'd like to thank Nancy for the encouragement, Jason for doing it and my parents for letting me do it (despite the fact that it would look gross according to them). I still maintain A's in school and I have all my old friends so it has only brought joy to my life. My next piercings, done professionally, will be a spinal and a nape. I think they both are beautiful and they highlight the curves of the spine so gracefully. I guess those are kinda spiritual because I've had problems with my spine and so these piercings are kinda my homage to the spine. My next self done piercings may include some ear projects, a nipple, maybe a naval (probably not because of its hard aftercare, its "in style" quality and the fact I can't hide it from my parents) and maybe a little something else *wink wink*.
P.s. In reference to the title- I have only had one person proposition me for anything since I got my tongue pierced, and it was only a kiss.
