Okay, so it was Monday morning and my friend comes up to me and says she is going to get her tongue pierced. I am thinking yeah right she is going to chicken out. She chicken out and wouldn't even get her cartilage pierced. Anyway, I started thinking about getting my tongue pierced. I decided that I was going to do it. I had wanted one for a long time, but always talked myself out of it. I told my friends I was going to get pierced, so on Wednesday we went looking to get pierced.

So we go to Raw Ink (the only place in the small town of Ada to get pierced) on Wednesday, but they are busy for the rest of the day. Then we decided to drive to the next town for a place. We found a tatoo studio, but the piercer wasn't there and it cost $40. So then we went to another town, and found out that it would cost $60. I decided just to wait until Thursday and get it done at Raw Ink for $25. I knew that I probably was going to go to Raw Ink anyway because that is where I got my tatoo done a few months ago. Raw Ink was also the cheapest and I knew they would do a good job. We went back and I made my appointment for 4:30 on Thursday.

Thursday's are my worst days. I have 7 hours of class on Thursdays and don't have time to eat lunch. I tried eating, but was way too nervous to eat. After I got out of class at 4:00, I went to my friend's room. I thought she was going to drive me there, but she lent her car to her boyfriend thinking someone else was driving, so we ended up walking (about a ten minute walk). So I get to Raw Ink, and one of my other friends is already there. I waited for a few minutes, and the guy came out and told me to stick my tongue out. I did and then I went back to the room.

First, I was told to rinse my mouth with Listerine. I did that, and then he put an anisthetic on my tongue. After about a minute, my tonge and lips were totally numb. A sat down in the chair and he marked my tongue. He decided that he didn't like the placement so he tried again. As I was he was getting ready to put the needle through my other friend came, (she had just got out of class). He clamped my tongue and told me to close my eyes and before I knew it my tongue was pierced. He just told me to relax and stick my tongue out farther. Since I was numb, it couldn't tell whether I was sticking my tongue out at all. The piercing did not hurt at all and afterward I rinsed with Listerine again and got some ice to suck on.

I sucked on ice for the rest of the night, and some the next day. Suck on ice as much as possible. It will reduce the amount of swelling a lot. My after care is rinsing with Listerine and using Gly Oxide twice a day. I experienced very little swelling. Swallowing is a little wierd at first.

I have now had my piercing for 2 days. My tongue is not swollen or sore. My meals have consisted of pudding, applesauce, jello, a milkshake, and spaghetti-O's. Everything takes so long to eat. I tried eating a chips ahoy cookie, and it wasn't too bad except the time I thought I was biting a chocolate chip, but it was the top ball. My only complaint is that the bottom of my mouth where the ball sits is sore and my mouth feels slimy and turned white. But that will all go away. I hope. I am really looking forward to experience kissing with a tongue ring. As long I can hide it from my parents I am set. They were okay with my tatoo, but my dad told me never to come home with a tongue ring. Hopefully when I go home in a few weeks I will be able to hide it.

One of my roommates friend from down the hall came down to visit yesterday, and kept sticking his tongue out at me, so I knew he knew I had my tongue pierced, but I din't tell or show very many people. He then told me that the only people that get their tongue pierced are, in his words "banana lickers." I think that is such a negative stereotype of people who get their tongue pierced. Anyway, that is just my opinion.

(by the way my mom called me this morning and I pulled it off she couldn't tell,I guess my speech isn't too bad!)
