I've been wanting an industrial since I graduated grade 8. My parents were kind of unsure about me getting it done, so they decided to make me wait a year, to think about it. They were hoping that I would forget about it & move on.

Unfortunate for them, I still wanted it. The only problem was, my mom wouldn't take me because she didn't want to watch it happen or hear my cartilage do the famous "crunch" sound. Since she didn't want to take me, I had to some how persuade my dad into taking me, which trust me, isn't all that easy. He's physically disabled, so for him to actually get up & go do something is highly unlikely, unless it's something hear really wants to do, or he gets talked into it.

So I had to wait ANOTHER freakin' year. It was totally brutal, having to wait. I couldn't go by myself, because I'm barely 16 [I have a really late birthday] & at the time, I would have been younger & the whole age thing & yeah.

So, fast forward, I had knee surgery a month before I got it done & was getting sick & tired of being in the house all day because I couldn't do much distance without having to stop, or hop on crutches. I had gone out with my dad all that day, basically out of plain boredom [plus I wanted to try out my new, straight knee cap]. We finally arrived home after being out practically all morning and part of the afternoon. I was sitting in our living room, looking out the window when the idea of getting my industrial done right then & there, popped into my head.

When I asked my dad if he could take me to Wild Ink, he was surprisingly agreeing. Just as we were about to leave, he asked me "Where's your ink cartage?" It didn't take long until I finally made the connection the the quick response & the shop's title. I couldn't help, but laugh at that moment.

He gives me this concerned look, more like, "why do I have to go through with this?" He calls my mom at work, & tries to get out of it, but she tells him that he has to take me, because she won't & I've been wanting it for the longest time.

So he finally agrees to take me, so we hop into the truck, & drive the like, 30 second drive there [seriously, it's like a 5 minutes walk there, but since I'm not 16, I can't exactly go by myself, not like I wanted to do that].

The people there were totally nice & polite, when you come into the shop, it looks really clean just from the front door. When you walk in, your not greeted with a huge amount of clutter. But since where they are, is an older part of town, their shop is fairly small. With this in mind, they actually succeeded in getting a lot of things in there without making it look too cramped.

When I said I was looking at getting an industrial, the guy was positive & handed me the forms. I filled them out, & got dad to sign his life away. While we were filling the forms in, he asked his apprentice [I think, he looked unsure about a lot of things] if he wanted to do it, his reply was actually really surprising, to be honest. He said that he's never pierced before & didn't feel comfortable doing it without the proper training. The other guy [who did the actual piercing & gave us the forms] was really laid back about it.

The few things I didn't like about him, was he went into the back room & got all set up without me seeing. I mean, I trust them that they're clean, I've have friends who've been pierced there before & have had great results, but it wasn't something I found too professional. I shrugged it off since I really didn't want to back out of it right there & then, over one silly thing. I also didn't like the idea that I wasn't able to see the placement before he pierced it. It would have been nice to see it before it became all swollen & red.

I went back to his little room, where he had all of his needles & jewelry. My dad decided to come along too, I guess for support. I sat down on his bench/table & he marked my ear up. He asked if I was ready & for me not to move. I have my helix on my other ear, so I knew what the pain would be like, plus having it done twice.

The first hole was a total surprise. I felt him get through my ear & I heard the famous "crunch" sound. The second hole wasn't so easy. I felt him kind of stop half way through my ear & it was actually really awkward. I have no idea why he did that, but I tried to keep still. He finally got through to the other side. I was relieved that the crunching was over & my ear would be left untouched for a while. When he put the jewelry in & removed the needles, I guess he didn't pierce one hole all the way, so it made the crunch sound, again. My dad was standing at the other side of the room, cringing because he could hear the crunching the entire time.

I'll admit, the price of it was a lot, to me being extremely cheap. It came to $74 dollars CAD. My dad paid for it & I got my beloved baby all in one piece <3.

Since then I've had it for a few months now & the swelling has gone down a lot. Since I can't take any type of anti inflammatory medication, this is a really good thing, to be able to see improvement in that amount of time. I've been able to change the balls & move the bar around, as well as take it out, clean it & put two shorter shafts in.

For those of you who are thinking about getting an industrial, get it, you'll love it forever! <3
