So I've been toying with the idea of a nose piercing for a while, but then I told my Dad and he said no. Slightly disappointed I asked if I could get my tragus done. (I'm only 15 so I still need permission..) He said yes but my Mum wasn't keen. She said she didn't like them - my answer was that she didn't have to wear it, plus it would be easier to hide than a nose piercing at school. We have a rule of one piercing in each lobe. Although I don't listen and have three in each lobe, one cartilage and now my right tragus! Finally last weekend she agreed and said yes!

Anyways, I recently sold my phone on eBay and decided whilst I have the money, I may aswell get it done now. First I rang Skin Fantasy as I'd heard good reviews about them and they said £15 for a CRB and £20 for a bar/labret stud. I also rang Zodiac and asked how much they charge, they said £20 for a CRB or £25 for a bar/labret stud. I initially decided to go to Skin Fantasy but when I got there the woman told me my tragus was too small and if she pierced it (and I quote) 'You'll either be left with a small 'V' shape when it rejects or it'll go into the gland and swell up like an egg'.

I was ever so slightly gutted. I decided I needed a second opinion so I went to Zodiac. I went in and told her what had happened and she said she didn't know why they had a problem, it would be fine. She took me upstairs (didn't catch her name) and had me fill out the paper work and my Mum had to sign it too as i'm under 16. She asked me whether I'd like a bar/labret stud or a CRB and I chose the bar as they are easier to heal with. She also gave me a choice of colours as they each have a little gem in the ball, me being the girly girl chose a bright pink one! Paperwork done, she told me to go upstairs to the next floor and hand the sheet to the piercer.

So off I went shaking with nerves (this is my first 'real' piercing, all my others were *shudders* gunned...) I got to the top and sat and waited for Victoria to come out from her office and take my sheet. She told me I could have one person with me in the room so my Mum came in with me whilst my sister waited outside. Once Victoria had cleaned the room thoroughly (it was already clean but she said it's routine which I took as a good sign!). She told me to take a seat on the bed type thingimagig and she ran me through the procedure and aftercare. She also told me how I really shouldn't get my ears done on the market, and how a girl had come in the other day after having her tongue pierced with a gun....

She marked me up and asked if the placement was good, I said it was fine and she changed her gloves. Next she had me lie down and stuff a tissue in my ear whilst she sprayed my tragus with numbing spray. Meanwhile my Mum sat covering her eyes in the corner! Once that was done she was just talking to me rather than the whole, breath in 1 2 3 and out which I was glad of! Next thing I knew she said right you're done. To which I replied, are you serious? I didn't believe that she'd done it as I never felt a thing apart from a little pushing and pulling. She handed me a mirror to look at my new adornment. I fell in love! I could and still can see the back of the bar if I look in the mirror but she said they put a longer bar in to allow for swelling. She told me that if I had any problems that I could go back anytime and she'd sort it out for me, and that when I want it changing, if I have a labret stud I'd like to use I could take it and she'd autoclave it and put it in for me!

It's now been 8 hours since I got it done and there's just a slight, dull aching which is to be expected really. All in all I'm really pleased with it and how fantastic Victoria was. If you happen to be in Burnley or live anywhere near, I'd really recommend Zodiac and especially Victoria. She put me at ease and was so lovely! Will definitely be going back for any future piercings.
