Alright, So, I am working to number up my ear piercings all the way up to my cartilage ! My mom is too busy to take me out to get them pierced at clair's.. So she always gave me the ideal to do it myself. Saying things likes "Self pierce them etc etc" sarcastically, And I been thinking since i was 14 "Hmm. should I try this?"
At A Glance Author YAA When It just happened Artist Me Studio Mom's bathroom Location NJ I was in the mood for some excitement. So I went in the basement and found some safety pins, I made sure they where kinda big. I took out a bag with some ice and placed it under and over the ear lobe. I cleaned my ear off with rubbing alcohol, Also did the safety pins in it also.
First I marked with a sharpie. Then I started to push the safety pin in. I was slow with it because I was a bit nervous.. it took a lot of force to get it threw the skin. It did not hurt that bad. the skin around it while Pushing is what hurt! You can tell when your threw. because it will make a weird pop noise braking threw the last layer of skin. Then you move the safety pin in a bit more. Now just close it up and with a q-tip. touch it up with rubbing alcohol.. YES It will burn!
Having safety pins sticking out your lobes looks hilarious but, it's better then pulling the pin out and having to find the hole. I have done this the first time today making a hole in my lobes, but it was almost impossible... to get it in the hole! so I re-pierced one side
I showed my mom she was surprised. she just told me to clean it up everyday and to be careful when doing it. Shes fine with me doing my own lobes. but my face? with a safety pin would be a little too insane !
I am gonna give it a few weeks (3-5 weeks) then remove the safety pins. Then if it heals up successfully I am gonna work on the third lobe piercing!
Overall, The pin was not bad at all. If you do this I think It's best if you only do you're ears and not anywhere like, Nipples, tongue, lip, Nose (Nose can bleed badly if hit in the right spot!) etc. with a safety pin! If your gonna do your own piercings. get a piercing kit with the needle if anywhere else.. Or overall you should because there are a lot of infection risk with pins!. Always work on clean surfaces, Clean the pin off in rubbing alcohol or in boiling hot water, Or burn it in a flame and then cool it down. These should work good.
My sisters all think I am insane for doing this. They kept making "ow" Noises when they saw me with pins sticking out of my ear lobes! They'd think I'd chicken out because I am the wimp in the house.. well aren't they in for a surprise haha
I hope to get about 9 one side of my ear and 6 on the other. And wear a lot of small rings all in my ear! But if I keep up with the pin I will have them done in no time (Only if this one heals up all correctly I will continue doing the safety pin)
If I'd have to rate the pain of the needle from 1 to a 10.. I'd say.. 3.. ! It was not that painful at all. it's after that hurts, It feels burning and hot for a little while (maybe an half hour or hour, depends if you mess with the piercing also. Moving it around a lot in the beginning can make it sore feeling) I can't describe the pain cause I didn't feel much.. but I'd say.. A bee sting? or how about a pin? haha that's obvious!
To be honest I think the gun hurts more then doing it yourself with a pin. I only have my ears pierced. this Friday I go to get my eyebrow and lip done. Then I will write about that next!
I say piercings are totally worth the few seconds of pain. So get them if you don't mind a moment of pain. And they don't ruin your body, and they are not as dangerous as most say they are (If you take care of them right!) Pick your ideal of a piercing and think about it for a long long time before you go get it done! that way you are sure your committed to this choice and will not regret it later. But don;t be overly paranoid. Also if you live with your mom still like me (If your a teen) Maybe you shouldn't do this unless your parents are ok with it. because they will find out.. (See the safety pins in your lobes) Haha bye
