Last summer I started to really want another piercing other than the two lobe piercings I have on each ear.I wanted my belly button done, but my mom didn't go for that so I figured just another ear one would be good. So I looked around this web site to find one that is less common. I wanted the tragus until I saw the industrial. I loved it so i set my sights on that one. Then randomly I went yesterday with my best friend and mom (because im only 16) to actually go get my ear pierced. It was just a last minute thing to do that day, I found a studio close by called Mom's Tattoo and called to make an appointment. They said sure come over anytime. I then got scared and thought maybe to just get a regular cartilage hole at the top of my ear, because I started to get myself nervous about the pain that I would feel.

My mom had said if I did this, it would be the last one till I was 18. So I just went for the industrial because I knew if I didn't I would regret it. My mom and I filled out all the forms and I paid her the $75it cost. I saw the jewelry, she sized it to my ear, then I waited for her to set up. I was getting a little nervous because I imaged me crying or something because of the pain. Then she came out and brought me and my friend into the back room where she does all the piercings. The only bad thing was only one person could come in the room with me, my mom didn't really want to so my friend did.
I sat in the chair as she told me everything she was doing and what she was going to do. She was really nice and professional. She also had an industrial so I asked her about hers and she was really happy with hers, so I knew I would be happy with mine in the end too. I started to get nervous again so I grabbed my friends hand until it was all over. I waited while she clean my ear and lined up the marks of where she would pierce. She asked me what I liked best, out of 3 choices. I chose a more diagonal, but not a very extreme one which I thought looked the best. I thought it would be really painful, and I expected the worst. I rested my head against the head rest and sat very still while Shannon, my piecer told me to take a deep breath in then let it out slowly. She pushed it through the top part of my ear first. It hurt for a second but wasn't as bad as I imagined, it really was a quick pinch and it was over, until the bottom one. Then she did the same to my bottom ear, whic h I thought hurt more then the top even though she had told me usually the top hurts more but everyones different in pain I guess. I didn't even notice her putting the jewelry in either, I was surprised. I looked at it and was so happy how good it went and turned out. She gave me directions on how to clean the piercing and take care of it. She told me it might be hard to sleep on and wash my hair and stuff. She gave me a bag of sea salt to clean it with and told me to buy some dial soap to wash it with. I got up and showed my mom who liked it more then she thought she would.
I got many different reactions from it so far. My moms okay with it. My friend said she was kind of jealous. Her dad said it looked like a sword through my ear, ha ha. And other people said it looks really good, some say it looks painful, and others kind of just look at it funny. My dad hates it because he's not the biggest fan of "self mutilation" he calls it, and makeup, ha.
I got it done yesterday and it didn't bother me at all. It bled a little but not a lot. I specifically got it on the side I don't usually sleep on so sleeping didn't bother me. The only thing that irritated it a little was cleaning it and getting all around it and wiping the little bit of blood I had around it off. Its a bit swollen right at the top and bottom and kind of purple on the top but it doesn't hurt. I'm so happy I did it, it was so worth it and it looks great. It doesn't hurt as bad as you would expect, and Im not the best with pain and I don't have other big piercings or tattoos, so if I could do it and and your thinking of it; just do it, its worth it.
