For a young slightly squeamish girl, I love body modification. I guess those two things aren't supposed to mix... Oh well!!

Anyway, I had my first sets on my ear lobes done with a piercing gun in WalMart twice, but in my defense, I didn't know at the time that piercing guns were not safe. I feel HORRIBLE for that now. I should have followed my gut and did research because the second time around, one of the piercings swelled and became extremely irritated. The next day I read that piercing guns were bad, and could've kicked myself. In fact, I did. Twice. It hurt. But that's not the point.

I prefer DIY jobs, and before I ever had my ears done with a piercing gun in WalMart, I had tried to pierce them myself with sleepers that my mother used in the 1960's. She had kept them all this time. Anyway, it had not worked the first time, because while in my sleep, I reached up and pulled them out which was bloody, but cool!! Anyway, sleepers are round and pointed. You insert them onto your ear lobes, and pinch them together everyday. They worked themselves through your ear lobes, at least in theory they do.... They worked for my mother twice but did not work for me at first, so I just decided to get the gun.

But thats another story.

I had 2 holes in my right ear and 1 hole in my left ear, and decided I wanted another hole in my right ear, a 3rd one. I didn't want my ears to both have the same piercings, because I wanted to be unique. I wanted to truley feel unique. I knew I didn't want to get this 3rd hole done with a gun because not only did I know that it was incredibly not safe, I was worried that it would hurt like hell because it would be closer to cartilage. I was also worried about damage to my ears that would be bad such as keloiding. I tried to search for ways I could do a DIY third hole in my ear. Twice I tried to shove a needle through, but it didn't work, due to the fact I couldn't get enough leverage to shove the needle through my skin.

After being so fed up, I decided to put my faith in the sleepers one last time.

I grabbed the tightest sleeper out of the two (the tighter the more force it will have to push through your ear). I only had one chance to do this, and I had to step up and do it right. I used a gray marker in my bathroom and put a hold where I believed it was even next to my other piercings. Once I determine that that looked right, I slowly opened the sleeper a little bit, and put it over the gray mark. I grabbed the sleeper and pinched it shut. My eyes watered up badly, because it was very bad sudden pain. I wondered if I had missed and gone through cartilage, but I hadn't. I pinched it together a few more times and irritated it even more. I looked at it in the mirror a few more times, but I noticed that it was VERY red. I was worried but kept it anyway, hoping everything would all even out.

Over the next week I pinched the sleeper together every single day a few times, and slept on my left side, just in case. It hurt very bad. One time I took my shirt off over my head and screamed in utter pain and half terror. I was praying that this would be over soon. It just got redder and hurt more. I was fed up with the pain and decided to try and take the sleeper out. I figured a week had gone by, and my earlobe would be fully penetrated the whole way through.

I grabbed one of the "piercing earrings" from one of my times at Walmart and went into the bathroom, sterilizing everything. I ripped the sleeper out of my ear. Instead of pain, I felt a rush of relief go over me. I took a moment to breathe. I started to push the earring through the hole, and I thought that everything was good but realized.... there was a layer of skin that the sleeper didn't go through. I felt horrible, I couldn't believe that I went through that week of pain for nothing. In a rush of anger, I shoved the earring through. SPLAT. I looked up. Blood had went flying and hit the mirror. But I didn't care. And I was amazed at how it didn't hurt!! I didn't feel a thing!!

Of course after all that struggle, I couldn't get the back on the earring, So I asked my mother to do it for me. She struggled, and when it finally got on, the point poked her in the finger. She screamed, but I rejoiced; I had a third piercing!!! Yeah!!!

I know it was kind of irresponsible to do a piercing myself (especially how I did it), but I and many other people, have done much stupider shit. If you do decide to pierce yourself, do it right and not stupidly and painfully like I did!!!

More earlobe piercings soon!!! Mwahahahahahaha...
