When I was only 2, my mom got my ears pierced with a gun at a mall kiosk. I don't remember it, but as I got older I hated wearing earrings because of how crooked the holes were. One was pierced high up and close to my face while the other hole was low and closer to the back of my earlobe. People would often point out how crookedly my ears were pierced, so I often just wore no earrings at all. Surprisingly, my holes never closed up. I wonder if it was because I got them pierced so young.

The last few years, I really wanted to stretch my ears but knew they were too crooked to do so- it would look terrible! So I knew I would have to have them re-pierced. I put it off for a long time, there was always another piercing or tattoo I'd rather spend my money on.

Then my room mate, Skot, who is a professional piercer got a job at a new shop and he told me to stop putting it off! Talking with him, I decided to have my ears pierced at 4 gauge as my ear lobes had plenty of room and I was planning to stretch big. Plus larger gauge piercings are always more fun! I ordered my jewelry, 4 gauge steel singe flare eyelets and once they came in I gave them to my room mate to autoclave and told him I'd be in soon!

It was a busy time for me and almost a week went by before I had a free day and my boyfriend said "let's go get your ears pierced!". We called up Skot at work who said he'd be able to fit me in so we ran a few errands and ate a big dinner. I'm one of those people that has to have a big meal before a piercing or tattoo or I feel awful afterwards!

It wasn't long before we were at Fluid Ink. It was our first time there, even though Skot had been working there for a couple of months. The waiting room was pretty full. We checked in at the counter and waiting for our room mate to be done with another piercing. In the meantime we looked at their jewelry selections. Soon Skot came out and said hello and added us to the short waiting list. I was starting to get pretty nervous. No matter how many tattoos and piercings I get, I always feel a little nervous before hand!

Soon Skot had me filing out the standard paperwork then we went downstairs to his piercing room and I had a seat on the bed. Skot had us pick out some music on his Ipod while he went and got the needles and jewelry. Soon he was cleaning my ears and marking the piercings, which took a while because he wanted to make sure they were even but also that they would get rid of the old holes. I got up to check the marks and they were perfect! Skot explained that he would be piercing at a 6 gauge them immediately stretch up to my 4 gauge gauge jewelry to keep the piercings from bleeding much.

It was time. I laid down on the bed and Skot applied clamps then told me to breathe in, then out and then he pushed the needle through the first ear. It stung a little more then I expected but it was quick, and before I knew it the jewelry was in. Then it was time for the next one. Same thing but that one did hurt a little more, but it always seems like the second piercing hurts more then the first, in my experience. But again, it was quick and not bad at all!

I laid there for a second as he cleaned off my ears, I didn't bleed so that was good! Finally I sat up and took a look. They turned out perfectly! Skot did an amazing job as usual! He said he was really happy with how they turned out and was amazed at the fact that they were barely red!

We went upstairs and chatted with the rest of the staff and tattoo artists for a while and I set up an appointment to get a new tattoo there. I really like Fluid Ink, everyone there is friendly, professional and knowledgeable.

It's been almost 2 weeks and I barely feel like I got my ears pierced so recently. They healed up fine, didn't bleed, and only stung for a day or two, and were tender for about a week, but only if I bumped them. Sleeping on them was hard for a week or so. I did salt soaks for the first few days then just made sure to clean them very well every day in the shower and they are doing excellent. I should be able to stretch up easily in a couple of weeks!
