When It just happened
Location The Village in NY
It was a normal day in mid-February and I was looking around bme. I already had my navel, 4 lobes & 3 cartilage's done (one cartilage closed on me so i was left with 2), but I guess I just wasn't satisfied. I came across the rook piercing before but I never really wanted it. I just thought it was some unusual piercing which I would typically not get.

I don't know what changed my mind a few weeks later but I really wanted to get the rook pierced. I started looking at pictures and reading stories on bme of past rook piercings. Most of them said it hurt a lot because there was more cartilage there and some claimed it wasn't very painful.

Days started to pass and I told my friends I wanted my rook pierced. They were like "what is that?" They're not really piercing addicted as much as me. I showed them where it was and I got the answer "why would you want it pierced up there?" I wanted it because no one has it and it was way to cute to pass up on.

After a week of research, I watched videos of the piercing. It seemed painful that there was so much force needed to poke through the cartilage. I thought it over but I still wanted the rook done. I was ready to get it done and I asked nay if she could go with me since she wanted her cartilage pierced. We set down a date, friday, and planned to go after we got out of school.

I waited a whole week till friday and I was nervous. At the last minute, nay canceled on me because of her mom and told me that she didn't want me to go by myself. I was determined to get it done that friday so I was left alone to go all the way to the village by myself. I had been to the place already to get my navel done a month before so I knew how to get there.

I arrived at the village, it was pouring rain out there, so I quickly went inside and I tell the guy I wanted my rook pierced. He showed me 3 different types of jewelry and I asked if there was any curved barbells. I paid and I only had change in coins for the tip. oops...

Anyways, I walked into the back room and I told the piercer I wanted the rook. Funny how it was the same piercer I had before. I sort of knew the procedure & I knew that they needed to pierce with a bent needle. The piercer showed me the needle and said "so you know how the piercing is done."

He cleaned my rook and marked of where the needle was going through. He counted "1...2...3... maybe it better if I start a different way"

Okay, so I think he went through the top first and I noticed the needle went through the first layer. I felt the tip move in the inside of my cartilage. The pain wasn't too bad and I didn't really feel anything.

Then came the second layer hurt a little more. I heard a tiny noise and the needle was through. He put the cork on the needle, and the jewelry was next. This is the most painful part during any piercing, it feels like a sharp pinch on your cartilage. After about a minutes or 2 of pain, I was done. I asked if there was blood but there wasn't any and I was surprised that it kind of hurt less than my cartilage piercings. I left and didn't get the aftercare procedure, maybe he thought I knew the procedure or something.

So out in the pouring rain I go and I couldn't wait to look at my rook piercing. The next day at night, I had noticed dried blood on the bottom and it was bleeding. I decided to run water on it to clean out the blood, it didn't really work though. I cleaned it with saline solution and it was a real toughy to clean.

Today is day 2 of my rook piercing. It hurts when I clean the bottom and really difficult to clean the inner part of the rook. I always need to look at it to see if it's bleeding or sore and to make sure it doesn't get infected. I am really happy with it and I could sleep on my right ear without it hurting.

I love the new rook and I don't think I'll ever take it out. Overall the piercing isn't as painful as it seems and it's better to get the rook done before watching videos. The piercing is totally comfy and I can't even feel that it's there.
