When Two years ago
Studio Body Art Emporium
Location Louisville, KY
I got my industrial right about two years ago. I don't know where I saw a picture at, but I thought it was amazing. My parents were kind of reluctant, but in the end agreed. I can still remember the date. July 20th. Wednesday.

It was right after I got home from Gatlinburg. I was going to get it pierced down there. I went to a ton of different places. Called everywhere. Most places were 18+ and others you at least had to be 16, which I was 2 months away from. So when I got home, I found a couple of places. Most stopped piercing and only did tattoos except one. Body Art Emporium.

I was really nervous to actually be getting it pierced. I didn't exactly know what to expect. I think I thought it would be a piece of cake. It's just the ear, right.

The place didn't look how I expected it to. It was really small. One side were for tattoos and the others for piercings. When I walked in, there was a girl getting her nipples pierced. She was screaming. After that was some guy getting an eyebrow and then it was my turn. Waiting for my turn was nerve racking. At one point, I didn't even want to go through with it. When it was my turn, I thought I was going to pass out. My heart was pounding. I sat down in the piece of crap chair. I just watched what the guy was doing. He cleaned and marked my ear. Everything was ready. Deep breath, and the first hole was done. It wasn't really that bad. Painful, but tolerable. The second hole was about the same, and putting the barbell in was worse but still not too bad. My ear was burning hot. I couldn't think of what i was supposed to do. I don't know if it was adrenaline or excitement, but I couldn't talk and could hardly walk. Two guys tried to talk to me about what just happened. One said he got his industrial pierced the day before, and the other was getting his today. My dad paid and we left.

I looked at my ear forever on the way home. It was just red and really hot. My parents asked if it hurt, and I lied and said no. The first day was probably the hardest. Figuring what I could do without it hurting, which way I could lay, getting a cleaning routine. It didn't help that one of my friends hit me right on the ear just hours after I got it pierced. I always seem to get hit. I got kicked by someone crowd surfing at a concert. My mom's hit me tons of times. The seat belt has got it before. It seems that it's a l w a y s in the way, but those pains just make me love it more.

My healing went quite well for hitting it all the time. I cleaned it religiously. It was my new baby. I did take out my barbell too soon and I couldn't get it back in. I shoved and shoved until finally I had blood dripping down my face and my mom running from the room. It took several months before I could change my barbell. I got a really nice titanium one that was green. I lost the original one right after I got it. Then the other not long after that. I had to keep rings in for a long time until I could get a new barbell. It ended up rubbing my ear so badly now that it left a nasty scab that won't go away. I also have a dent in my ear where the barbell lays. It hurt for a long time, too so I would definitely steer clear of rings.

I love my industrial more than anything. I've thought about letting it close up, but its such a part of me now. I couldn't bring myself to part with it. Even though I had a lot of aches and I got hit so many times, it was well worth it. I was going to get a double on my other ear at one point, but it's too hard to baby it for so long.

I have to say that it's a great piercing to get. It was worth all of the bangs I went through and I don't think I can get rid of it anytime soon. I don't think I'd really recommend Body Art Emporium. They seemed really unorganized and didn't do anything to make me feel more comfortable, but all in all, it's an okay place.

My next piercing's going to be snakebites, but I have to wait until I'm in the wonderful world of adulthood. :)
