When It just happened
Artist a lady named tina
Studio a hair salon
Location in my town
Well, my tragus piercing experience was interesting, and I'm wondering if this happened to anyone else.

I'd decided I wanted another ear piercing (I have my ears pierced 3 times and my cartilage on my left ear) and had always liked the unique look of the tragus! My mom had to go in before hand and fill out some paper work, since I'm only 16. I arrived at the hair salon and thought the location was sort of shady, but once I got inside, I was reassured of the quality.

The lady was really really nice. She welcomed me at the door. I had my best friend with me, and the lady (her name was Tina) led me into a small room with one of those chairs that looks like a chair you would find at a dentist or something. I laid down and she went to get her stuff. I might add, it seemed like she took forever to get her stuff! I always get so nervous before getting anything pierced, and time just drags along as I wait for it. But finally she did come back. She told me that this was one of the harder places to pierce, and she explained to me what she was going to do. She told me that she would put the needle through and then she would have to take the needle out and put in the earring. She also told me that she was going to put in a barbell rather than a hoop, because the hoop weighs it down or something (which was good; i've always liked the look of a cute little stud in there anyway! maybe after it heals, i'll have to try a hoop.)

She cleaned my ear, and I could feel her put a dot where she would pierce it, but the funny thing is she didn't ask me if I liked the location. But don't let that hinder you from getting it done; most piercers will ask you as I've read from other experiences. She also gave me an option of what kind of earring to put in, and also gave me an extra one to keep for myself! We had a brief conversation before hand; she basically told me that yes, this was going to hurt, there isn't always the loud cracking noise you hear about, and she just was completely honest about what was going to happen, which scared me, but I now appreciate it.

Well, she counted to three and put the needle through. Of course it hurt, and I thought she was done..but then she had to put the actual barbell through. This was where I got queasy. I felt really light headed and broke out into a massive sweat, and my best friend told me she could see the color drain from my face. It felt like it lasted like 2 minutes and I felt like the room was spinning. She kept saying, "I'm sorry hun, but at least I told you the truth!"

But finally, it was over, and I felt all gross and sweaty ha ha, and still light headed. I had to sit there for a couple of minutes.

After I gained composure, she gave me a lot of diferent aftercare instructions, such as dissolving sea salt in distilled water for one minute before taking a shower, rinsing it really well in the shower after gently sudsing it up with antibacterial soap, not drying it with a bath towel, and cleaning it 2 to 3 times a day. These instructions have helped me out immensly! I paid her and left her a three dollar tip, and then I was on my way.

One thing I might add; my friend got her tragus pierced, and the lady pierced it too close to the end and it ripped through. She of course went and got her money back. So be careful where you go, and if anything like this happens, go get your money back!

All in all, the experience wasn't too bad. Just the getting light headed part was. I felt like I was going to pass out, and I made my friend drive home! I can't lie to you; that was the most painful out of my belly button, nose, and all of my ear piercings. But I think it's worth it, and it looks really cute! I would recommend getting it done. Of course it's gonna hurt, I mean, a needle IS going through your skin, so what can you expect? And plus, people take pain differently. I dont' have a very high pain tolerance, which may be why my experience didn't go so smoothly. It was definitely different than any other piercing I've ever gotten, but it was still good. I hope I was able to help you all out!
