I have always wanted to get a crazy piercing that not many people have...and I just so happen to have a friend who has seven piercings that, well, not very many people have. While she has the standard tongue and lobe piercings, she also has the rook, tragus, clitoral hood and industrial piercings. she loves them, they are an addiction for her, and I decided I would test the waters...let me just say it is a pretty potent drug!!!

It was a Friday night, we were bored, and my friend wanted to get her tragus pierced. We called Leon, asked him if he was at the abyss. He says he is on his way, and to leave our house in about an hour. We got ready and left to go there at about 7-7:30.

We got there, and my friend went first. Even though she'd heard the tragus is really painful, it went quick and easy and she didn't even flinch...then my other friend went. She got her frenulum pierced (that little flap of skin underneath your tongue), and it took twenty minutes just to convince her...first the clamp freaked her out, and then Leon finally got the needle in her mouth (mind you he hadn't pierced anything yet, but getting it NEAR her mouth was a challenge, I'm surprised he got it in there)...after a little bit of coaxing from Leon (and a TON of peer pressure from us!!), she was pierced...I still don't know if she likes it, but I think it looks pretty cool...it's one of those piercings you can hide if you want to, or flaunt if you feel like it!

Then, to my dismay, it was my turn.

I was nervous, especially since I am terrified of needles ( I HATE shots!!) and had heard that the industrial hurts like a bitch...I hadn't yet been to BME, or read any of the horrifying accounts of how badly this piercing hurts, and I'm glad I didn't...had I taken someone else's word for it, I would've been disappointed. Leon was really sweet and told me the truth, that it hurts but not too much and it's totally worth it...in truth I barely remember the whole procedure, it hurt so little that it wasn't terribly memorable...I just remember telling Leon that I hated him when he was putting in the jewelry, which hurt more than the actual piercing itself, but Leon knows I love him :-P...he pierced the top first, it didn't hurt as bad as I thought it would and my friend said I barely squeezed her hand! I didn't cry, which is good considering I cry when I get shots...then Leon did the second hole..when people tell you that the second hole hurts more, they aren't lying. But they are exaggerating a little bit on how much more it does hurt..it hurt, but it still didn't warrant a tear from me...I probably just said ow. Like I said, I hardly remember.

Afterwards, Leon walked us out to our car and showed us something he had in his car (I promised I wouldn't say, it would ruin his rep!!!!! :-P) We left and I was one satisfied girl! I couldn't stop looking at myself in the mirror, thinking about how much my mom would hate it. And I was surprised...she didn't mind it at all!!! my little brothers think its cool, my step dad likes it, and my boy friend cant wait to see!

All in all, I'm glad I did it... it has been about twelve hours since I got it done, it hurts a little bit, it is slightly swollen and I haven't cleaned it yet, but I think it will be worth it. I totally recommend the Abyss to anybody in the Kankakee area!!!

I want to get more piercings, including my tongue, rook, tragus, an orbital, and a second hole in each ear...I need to balance it out, can't have all kinds of hardware weighing down one ear, but oh well :-).. but anyway, I love my piercing already...I can not wait until my boyfriend sees it! Here is to hoping I don't roll over in my sleep tonight... happy piercing! lexi

*edit* I encourage anyone who wants this piercing done to NOT read the posts that say anything about the industrial hurting, unless you want to freak yourself out...if you have a low tolerance for pain, which I do, you may find yourself surprised by how little it actually hurts as compared to what everyone else says...I guess all people or different, but I'm proud that I wasn't terribly hurt by it! So, in the end, I say that anybody considering a piercing should ignore their nervousness and go with it! I almost listened to my stupid fears, and if I had I would've regretted it.
