Snug....

Alright, I will start from the beginning. I have had up to nine different piercings in my life. I currently have three in each lobe (6g, 6g, and 10g) and a 10g cartilage piercing. That piercing used to be 14g and I had another 14g helix which made an industrial. Also, I used to have an 18g Monroe.
I lost my top hole of my industrial when I took the bar out to get the dead skin from behind it. I had done this on many occasions but I guess my ear got tired of it and refused to let the jewelry go back into my top hole. So, I just decided to keep the bottom hole and stretch it a bit. At the end of the summer, after I quit my job and go to college, I am planning to go back to San Antonio and get another 10g helix done by Miro, former piercer at Jolly Roger Tattoo, who is now at Dandyland.
Within a week of my Monroe, I developed a bad habit of biting on the back of my flatback. Around week two, I stopped. However, one day, I was eating and it ended up getting caught and pulling through the backside of my lip. It didn't really hurt (most people freak out when they ask me what happened to it and I tell them) but it was just devastating. I had not had that piercing long enough and I was already losing it. I cried over my industrial and I probably cried over this.
Anyways, fast forward to May 26, 2006; my graduation. It was actually one of the worst days I had. I found out that I did not get into the music department at CSU. It was horrible. However, I realized that life goes on...I was graduating and going to Florida that night. So, I forced myself to be happy and it worked. I am unsure what I am going to do in life now...but life is great.
So, we went down to Orlando/Kissimmee to go to Disney World/Universal Studios and just have fun. My dad was with us, but that is cool. My dad is the type that will listen to hard rock, jam out, and have a good time. He doesn't care if I cuss or whatever. However, I do not live with him and I think I would go insane if I did.
The first night there, Melinda (my best friend) was itching to get a new tattoo. So, we went into this place called Evolution Tattoo, Inc. The place was clean and the people were nice. However, I soon found out that in the state of Florida, you had to have a form notarized with your parent's signature. Damnit. That bummed me out and brought me down for the night.
That was Saturday night...I figured I was just going to give up. But I had been craving a new hole in me...you know how that is. The notary places were all closed that weekend and Monday since it was Memorial Day. However, we found a notary at the place we were staying and went to get it notarized on Monday, the 30th, which happens to be today.
We went to MGM today....I was going to get it pierced beforehand but after remembering how some of the rides were, I was glad I did not. Afterwards, we went by Evolution Tattoo, Inc.
I gave the guy the papers, filled out some paperwork, and sat in one of the couches while waiting for the stuff to get set up. I really wasn't nervous but I figured I would get nervous. Finally, he said he was ready for me and I walked into the room. He had me pull my hair up and lay on the table close to the wall on my left side after asking what side I wanted it on. I figured I'd go with right because my cartilage is on my left and I sleep on my left at home.
He cleaned the area and marked it. I looked at it and he told me that on my ear, it was pretty much the best area to get it done. That was okay with me. It originally was not the area that I wanted it (I wanted it higher, it was low) but I felt comfortable where it was and later loved it. I asked him if he was going to use clamps (I had them on my Monroe and HATED them...) and he said he would probably have to with my ear. I think the clamps were one of the most painful things. I could just feel the pressure on my cartilage just squishing it together. It hurt.
It was obvious that I was nervous because he was like "I really need you to calm down, sit still and don't move at all." So I tried to stay still and just calm down. It's really hard to do when you're freaking out. I remember feeling the needle go through the two spots and it hurt like a bitch but not as much as the clamps. I definitely felt burning and like I was going to pass out.
I felt pretty much like I did the first time I gave blood. It was really hot and I just felt....blah. That's the only way to describe it. I have only had three needles go in me (my lobes were gunned...sadly) and two of them were in my cartilage. Both that were in my cartilage made me feel that way. Anyways, he put the jewelry in...that felt almost as bad at the clamps did. He kept asking me if I was okay and saw that I was losing color in my face. As this was going on, he was trying to close the CBR. I understand this is a hard task...I laid there for about 3-4 minutes as he messed with it. After another time of being asked if I was okay, I said I was just in pain and needed some water.
So, I sat up, got some water, and within a few more tries, he got the jewelry closed. That made me feel good. He cleaned up the blood (yes....I bled) and put some H2Ocean on my ear (not my favorite thing...I rather use regular sea salt soaks) and told me he was finished. I handed him the only cash I had...$8. I usually tip about $10-15 so I didn't feel that bad. He snapped a few pictures of it and went a bit over aftercare and I was on my way.
I remember asking him if it was going to hurt as much as my industrial. I knew he could not answer me correctly but he said "Well...I don't know....it might hurt more." And I said to him afterwards, "Yeah...it definitely hurt more than my industrial." His reply? "I knew it would....I just didn't want to freak you out."
But, anyways...I guess that is the end of my story. I love my snug and definitely plan on keeping it clean and beautiful...I am just hoping my job doesn't have a problem with it. If they do...oh well...I haven't even started working and I can find a better job. I would definitely recommend getting your snug done if you've been thinking about it. It hurt me like a bitch (I consider myself to have moderate to high pain tolerance...my industrial hardly hurt, my Monroe did not hurt at all, stretching my lobes didn't hurt, and stretching my helix hardly hurt) but I think it's well worth it and looks amazing.
To see pictures, they should soon be up on my IAM which is FreckleFace. Feel free to send me any questions or comments through IAM or through e-mail. Thanks for taking the time to read my experience and I hope all of your future experiences were as great as mine.
I have yet to send this in and I have a few things to add while dealing with this piercing on the second day. I just went to scratch the inside of my ear....forgetting it was there and I experienced the worst pain ever. It hurts to clean and is still producing a bit of blood. This is definitely my most painful piercing....but still...I love it.
