This was something new for me. Normally, I go get piercings with the same girl all the time. She was my "piercing buddy" and my life. Sharing the experience of having a piercing with her was something I loved. However, after some bad times I was left to complete what I had started on my own. I knew it would be quite scary but I had to do what I loved. I have a list of tattoo's and piercings that I would like to get, and I do have some already, but after lots of thought I decided my next one will be my anti tragus piercing. In the last few months I have had piercings on my body, but this time I wanted something different. I had looked up some information about this certain piercing but hadn't really read much about it. I did not see point. I wanted this to be an experience to learn from.

So, that weekend I went to my local piercing shop and showed him a picture of what I wanted done in case he did not know what piercing I was on about. That was stupid really, because as he's someone with a great love for piercings, he obviously knew what I was on about. After a minute or so he did look quite blankly at the picture but smiled. Apparently I wanted it slightly different to how it's usually done but he wanted to go ahead with it anyways. Apparently he liked a new challenge. He gave me the usual form, I signed my name and address and then the nervous feeling kicked in. I'm used to having piercings below the head but having something so close to my face seemed slightly worrying. But, I was going to go through with it anyways.

Walking into the room I could smell that "clean" smell. It's always reassuring to be able to smell how clean one's piercing environment is. As always he marked the two spots where the balls of the bar will be set on my ear (and where the needle would be poked through, obviously). ''Perfect'' he said with a smile on his face while I tried to catch a glimpse of the two marks in the mirror. His words reassured me that this piercing would be great. They always are. So, there I sat very calm with a big grin across my face while he put the clamp in place. This was slightly tricky for him because of the position of the piercing. It was nice watching him concentrate so hard to make it perfect for me.

'Ready?', he said and my response was just 'go for it!' I always loved this part where my heart would be pumping and my nerves would start to show. It kind of made me feel alive and sort-of 'high' with emotion. This is the moment I loved with a passion. The needle popped through with just a little prick of pain and he had cut the plastic to make it fit better in my ear. This was actually quite a calm piercing, the feeling was unique, that is what I liked the most about this one.

Putting the jewellery through did not hurt that much but that was probably because the main part was over. Flesh seems to get numb by itself after a little while. Once again I could see the concentration on the piercer's face as he tried to screw the ball onto my new jewellery. This actually started to make me feel a bit faint as it was at this point I realized he had just been fiddling with a new hole that had just been made in my ear. This is when I knew I should try and think of other things to stop myself passing out. A word of warning, always eat before getting pierced! When I stood up and looked at it in the mirror I thought it looked lovely and thanked the man for his hard work. It was the price of a normal piercing and I walked away with a huge smile on my face and told him I'd be back in a few weeks for something else.

Now I have had the piercing for over a week and it is actually quite sore and looking swollen, but still looks great! I don't think piercings on my ears like to heal but this time hopefully it will, I'm determined it will. If I take care of it in the proper way then I see no way why it should not heal nicely. This was my first piercing experience on my own and it wasn't the same, but I still had a great time. No matter how many piercings you get no two are the same. It's always a unique fun experience. There will be many more stories of these experiences to come!
