For about a year I had been entertaining the idea of an industrial...I always liked they way they looked, and I was running out of places to pierce, any more and I wouldn't have a job. So I took off early from work one day, grabbed my best friend and went to the studio. The piercing itself was pretty uneventful. I will say that it's one of the most painful piercings I've gotten, my others being 7 standard gun pierced holes in my lobes (4 in one ear, 3 in the other, and don't blame me for the gun thing, I was young and dumb), my nose, tongue, nipple, and belly button. After having my ear swabbed and cleaned, I laid down in the dentist chair, which was already making me nervous...I hate the dentist. After I was marked, Crystal asked me to do the standard in out in out breathing, and after a sharp pain like I got punched in the ear, and a loud pop, I thought I was done. I even thought to myself "Wow, both holes in one shot, she's good", because it honestly felt like 2. Nope, that was one...the second wasn't as bad, probably because of all the adreline going through me, but it still sucked. This was my first cartilidge piercing (well besides my nose), and it SUCKED. I've always heard about how sore they get, but I had no idea. For the rest of the day, the left side of my face and neck throbbed, and sleeping that night was bad, as I tend to roll over onto both sides. My poor boyfriend had to give up his side of the bed too...such a sacrifice on his part.

But even after that, I loved it! I loved the way it looked, and after the second day, it only felt like a bruise when I touched it. I usually use the "get it and forget it" method of healing. It's worked well on all my tattoos and piercings. I keep them clean and keep my hands away from them, but I heal really fast and really well without much help usually...not this time. Bad things started happening. The fourth day I had it, I ripped my brush over it while doing my hair...major ouch...I had to sit down for that one. Two days after that, I was hanging out with some friends, when one of them decided to pretend to punch me in the ear...right as I turned around to say something...needless to say he DID punch me in the ear, and the blood started flowing. I cleaned it really good after a hot shower, did a sea salt soak, and went to bed. A few days later, I noticed a bump forming on the top inside part of my ear, right under the fold. I didn't think much of it, but I did notice a lot of crust coming from that area. Well the bump grew...and grew...and grew...to the point that it was visible, sticking out from under the fold. Strangers noticed, and it was nasty. It was like the keloid from hell. My ear started hurting more than it did right after it was pierced, and I couldn't put any pressure on it at all...even my glasses resting on my ear hurt.

But I was determined. I had to retire a lebret piercing after the shitty placement from a different shitty studio left me with red bleeding gums and a chipped tooth. I wanted this one to last. I went through some pretty bad pain for this one, and by god I was going to keep it! But one night about a month after I got it, I was at the movies with my boyfriend, when I felt something running down my neck. My ear was bleeding everywhere! It was only coming out of the top hole, and it was bad. I ran to the bathroom and cleaned up as best I could, but there was no use. Between the random bleeding, the throbbing pain, and the gross keloid, I knew it had to go. I cleaned up and took it out.

I saved the bottom hole by putting in a CBR, but the top was a gonner. As soon as I took it out, I felt like a pressure had been taken off my ear. The next day, the top hole started pussing, and after awhile, it stopped. The keloid shrank pretty well, you can't see it without looking under the little fold, and there's just some bump around the outside top. I'm pretty sad that I had to take it out, but it just goes to show, be GENTLE with your piercings, clean them like its your job, and don't let a friend pretend to punch you in the ear...or I lease watch where you put your head.
