My daith experience

So one day I was bored and looking through bmezine.com and I came across the beautiful daith. It was love at first sight I tell you. So I immediately called up one of my friends and told her about it...she confessed that she wanted this done for the past few months too so we decided to go together, without parental permission. Why? Because when I came home with my cartilage and belly button done (which equals three times) I promised that each one would be my absolute LAST piercing, needless to say, I would always go out and get stabbed with more needles. So I was a little worried about asking permission for my daith, and why would I ask if I could go out and get it done on my own. My friend's parents were pretty strict on piercings period so that explains that.
The only problem was that this parlor expected you to pull 50 bucks out of your ass. Like I'm sorry but I could drive the same distance and go and get it done for $25 at this nicer salon, but I didn't like them after they screw up on my belly button the first time around, and that would mean my parents signature of approval.
So one night my mom and I are sitting at a table and she's talking about how teens sneak behind their parents back to get tattoos and piercings and how it's so stupid. So in my head I'm feeling super guilty. So I went into my room and wrote a nice three letter email to my mom of why I want my daith pierced, including really nice pictures off bmezine.com so that she could understand what I was talking about. I also posted really gross looking piercings where the ears all purple and blue and bloodied up to be like "hey be glad I'm not getting this done". I even told her that this would be my absolute last piercing. So the next day my father and mother talked to me about it and they agreed, they actually thought it looked cute (surprisingly). So I decided "How about I call up a different place and try it out". So I called up stinger tattoo, the guy would answered the phone was extremely polite and nice, I asked him how much it would cost and he said $40 (it's a sign! seeing as how I only have $40 in my bank account.) So he suggested that I'd come in on Thursday because the daith is quite complicated to do, he asked if one of his apprentices could watch and learn, I obviously had no problem at all.
Well I showed up at Stingers and they gave me a 10% off coupon because the piercer wasn't there and I was thinking "screw this how about I just go to lucky devil" So I got my parents to drive me to lucky devil and it was sixty bucks there! But, I figured that they were asking you to pay a fortune for gas these days so twenty bucks wasn't that big of a deal, I also trusted the guys there. So I had Chris pierce me, Paul was busy tattooing a dove on a girl's back.
So he told me that he was going to pierce it with a labret bar bell and I was thinking "what the heck!" so he dotted my ear and it was more like a forward helix so I was like "oh move it down a bit" so he did and I was like "uhh I want it IN my ear" So he was like "oh I'll have to do that with a hoop" and I was like "is that a problem?" and he's like "nope it's perfectly fine". So anyways...first he clamped my ear and it's not like I haven't got clamped before (my belly button) but the clamp hurt SO much, like you can't even believe, clamps on cartilage means death. So anyways...he had the needle bent in what I'd like to call a 'wide v'. He then said 'breath in, breath out, breath in, breath out' and next thing you know my eyes are watering and I was slowly moving my head away from the needle and he was like 'move your head more towards me'. Now I'm not going to lie, and I'm not going to try to scare you away from the piercing but the daith felt like a very painful ear ache, but that was only when the needle went in. Once the hoop went it I felt an ache in my jaw, he had to fiddle around with the ball for a few minutes because it wouldn't go in, he ended up giving up and getting another one. Now (three hours later) I can't feel a thing, it feels like I've had the piercing all along.
So in closing, I'd like to say that this piercing was an amazing experience, the pain for the thirty seconds was totally worth it, and even my mom thinks it looks absolutely adorable (she has it in her head that all piercings besides the lobes are dirty). So if you want to get it done, go for it, just make sure your parents are okay with it if you're still under their roof.
