I have wanted to get my daith pierced for a while now, at least sixth months, but either wanted something else in my ear more, didn't have money, or was waiting for something to heal. So after I cashed my pay check today, I told my dad that's what we were going to do tonight: get my daith pierced. I came home and checked out some stories and pictures last minute to confirm to myself that's what I wanted. I decided it was, and since I have had multiple cartilage piercings done before, I basically knew what to expect. So after a little while, my dad and I headed out.

Studio Checkered Past Location New Cumberland, PA I wasn't really nervous; I have previously had my cartilage on both ears pierced: industrial on my left, conch and rook on my right. I didn't really expect this to be too much different. I am only allowed to pierce my ears until I am 18, so I knew I couldn't just leave it a lobes- I needed to be creative. So I check out BME. I love everything I already have(most of which were inspired by BME) and knew I'd love this one too from the pictures I have seen. I haven't really seen anyone with this done before, so that made me feel pretty special, haha.
My previous piercings have been virtually flawless and thoroughly enjoyable experiences, no tireless maintenance, no bumps, no excessive pain. I figured (and hoped) this one would be similar. And this piercing should be healed enough by July for cheerleading camp for me get a retainer put in. It will maybe even be my last until the end of the football season-I don't know for sure how my coaches are going to act about me leaving my piercings in(most are hard to remove), which will pretty much suck.
We stopped at my dad's friend's house, and shortly there after we went to Checkered Past, the place where I was going to get pierced. I have gone there for all of my "non-traditional" ear piercings. We got there; my dad was obscenely obnoxious and loquacious. We did the usual deal of signing the paper and checking I.D's. We wait a bit for the set-up in the piercing room. We go in, dad still non-stop talking. The guy that is going to pierce me is some guy I have never seen before, an older guy, he had an assistant-a cute one, I might add. He asks me if I have ever been pierced there before, I said that all of mine pretty much were and he chuckled. He asked a few more standard questions: have I eaten?, have I had alcohol?, etc. Did a quick run through of the jewelry and tools to show they were sterilized as usual. Then he marked it for me, I couldn't even say I agree because I couldn't see the mark. Then he had me lay down, told me what he was going to do-put the needle through and catch it in the receiving tube. Told me to take some deep breaths and on the exhale of the third one, he stuck the needle in my ear. Made me kind of giggle, I guess I am starting to like this too much. Some more fiddling with the needle in my ear made me cringe a little, and then he put the jewelry in and told me it would hurt a bit, since there isn't much to work with there. At one point he said, jokingly, he hoped that he pierced the right thing, since I wasn't able to confirm it. Some more fiddling and a bit more giggling later, I sat up and looked at my beautiful daith! Yay! Had a split second of lightheadedness, but it was great and I was very excited. Cheered me right up! The only negative aspect was my dad talking loudly the whole time. I tipped the piercer and we left.
Coming home the warm blood rush feeling was pretty cool, I always like that feeling. But I tried to be careful with my ear(I was on a motorcycle and I didn't want it to get dirty); I put my hood of my sweat shirt over my helmet to protect it.
I recommend this piercing, especially if you have already had something done in your cartilage. Granted, I don't fully know what it will be like for me on my "daith journey through healing", but so far-so good. Not too much pain, tons of gain. It looks so cute with my industrial. Doesn't hurt now, but I'll see how it is tonight and tomorrow.
All of my piercings have healed problem-free with a simple twice daily cleaning or daily cleaning with Satin soap and Q-tips and none have had problems, so this is the method in which I plan on taking care of my new daith.
