A few months ago, I decided to get two new piercings. I chose to get my rook and my tragus done. Unfortunately, a few weeks later, they were only to be discovered by my mom who said I had to take them out. I refused to do so. But, after realizing my rugby season was about to start, I decided that maybe it would be a good idea to just get them redone at a later date. It was very depressing and I know this sounds really pathetic but I missed my piercings. After rugby, my mom still wouldn't let me get them done. Why couldn't she understand just how much I loved my piercings? All she could say was that I needed help.

Anyway, after lots of begging, I finally convinced her to let me get my rook redone. I was really happy but still not completely satisfied. I thought I wanted my tragus piercing back but, after having a few friends get it done, I decided I wanted to get something more original. It seemed like I always knew several other people who had the same piercings that I already had so I wanted something all to myself. After searching the web, I discover the wonderful daith. I just couldn't stop staring at the pictures of it. It was just the best looking piercing I had ever seen and I had never actually seen someone in person with it done.

I showed my mom the pictures and she actually didn't mind the piercing. It's not a really noticeable piercing, especially if your hair is long. She said I could get it done as long as I didn't get any more piercings while I am still living under her roof. I'm not so sure I want to listen to this rule, but I promised her I would. So that night, me and two friends went uptown to Pitbull, a place we'd been many times before. The guys in the studio actually recognize us now whenever we go in.

Now, I am a pretty small person and some people may even describe me as "cute" so when I went in there and asked for a daith piercing, the guy looked at me like I was nuts. I thought maybe I wasn't pronouncing it right. It turns out I had been saying it right, he was just staring at me because he thought I couldn't take the pain, but I knew I could do it. I see pain as something you can control. If you sit in that chair in fear that it's gonna hurt, then it will. I just thought positively about the pain, thinking that it wouldn't last for very long. When I sat down in the chair, the guy warned me once again about the pain level. It wasn't exactly the most comforting thing anyone's ever said to me but I still kept my positive attitude. My friends both thought I was nuts but they took both hands anyway as the guy was getting ready. He took out a new needle from the package and got me to turn my head towards him. My daith is pretty small and almost nonexistent so it was very difficult to pierce. By the time the needle was through and the ring was in, 25 minutes had already passed. It hurt a lot more than any other piercing I've ever had but it was definitely bearable. It just felt really odd more than anything. I was really surprised with the amount it bled. It felt like I had been sitting in the chair for hours by the time the ball was put on. Finally the bleeding stopped and I was able to admire my brand new piercing. I immediately fell in love. It was just the cutest thing ever and it suited my ear just great! All the other people in the studio came over to see my new piercing. They obviously hadn't done daith piercings very often. In fact, one of the tattoo artists didn't even know what it was.

There was one random guy who had come over and watched the whole process. He was totally amazed that you can even get your daith pierced. I found it quite funny that he was so amazed because he turned around and showed me the 6 nape piercings that he had. They were pretty awesome.

For the first little while after I got my daith pierced, it felt really different. I kept thinking there was a bug or something crawling in my ear whenever I felt it. It's a great little piercing though because, unlike the rook or tragus, you can actually still sleep on a daith piercing as it's farther in your ear. I've only had it done for a little over a month and already I've had tons of people come up to me and asked me about it. I highly recommend this piercing! It's the best!
