Well I have a labret piercing and various others in my ear, and I have been contemplating for ages about getting my anti-tragus done, I read up on it loads, and I got put off because BME have put it down to one of the most painful piercing.

Anyway after teasing myself so much my indulging myself in pictures of peoples pierced anti-tragus' I thought, right, I'm going to get this done, pain or no pain! I did a bit more reading up on it just to make sure, and then I sent my sister a text message to ask her if she could take me to my local piercing place. Much to my despair she wrote back saying, no! I wasn't very happy at this point as you probably could imagine, being terribly frustrated with myself for not being able to drive yet I managed to convince her to take me, the next day.

So tomorrow came, I had a driving lesson, which I sailed through so quickly, I was so excited about having a good lesson and about getting pierced that I forgot the time of my next lesson. My sister was on the phone when I got home and I was hurrying her along because I was so psyched up about having my anti-tragus pierced, she got a little annoyed I think.

So we arrived at the designated area, and got out of the car. We were walking down the street and the sight or the piercing salon was in view, my heart started to pound, the adrenaline was rushing through me....again, tried to remain calm but it just wasn't happening.

I walked in and there was no one at the counter, and no one was coming to the counter either, I panicked a little thinking no body is piercing today, but finally someone came, I told the nice lady what I wanted and I chose my jewellery, thought about having a bar in to start of with, but it was a straight one and I was worried encase I wouldn't be able to get a ring in once its healed. So I opted for the ring instead, I wish I didn't when I saw the size of it. She took my money and details, and said "I'll call you through in a minute" so while I waited I looked at the really cool UV cabinet with all the glowing jewellery in it, I chose a ball to put on my labret while I was there but I forgot to get it in the end.

Well anyway, she called me in, my heart pounding, I asked my sister to come in and watch because I wanted her to tell me all about, I'm slightly weird like that. She told me to sit on the bed so I did, she cleaned my ear up and marked it up with one of those surgical pens, and let me see if I was happy with the final position. Which I was, I don't think I really could have cared I was that scared. So the clamps went on, as did the freeze spray, told her to keep going with the spray because I really didn't want to feel anything, and the freeze spray has failed to work on me time and time again. So she put the needle up again my ear and I felt some serious pain, "alright darlin'.." I got confused, she normally only said that when she had finished piercing me "Are you done?" I replied confused, "yeah I've just got to put your jewellery in then you can go" Well I couldn't believe it; I really thought I was going to be in so much pain. 'Just bear with me while I put the jewellery in because I have to pull and twist" At this I grabbed onto the edge of the bed, again preparing myself for some excruciating pain, but nothing, didn't feel a dickey bird.

I walked out of the piercing studio and the cold spray had worn off, very quickly and a sudden rush of pain came to the side of my head, my ear throbbing and feeling like it was 10 times its normal size.

It was only yesterday when I had it done, it isn't too sore, the ring is standing practically straight up because of the swelling, and it looks a bit daft because the ring is about 10mm, hopefully it will heal quick enough for me to put a smaller one in.

When I got home I took some ibuprofen to kill some of the pain and to take some of the swelling off, it worked, it also helped me get to sleep.

So kids, next time you decide not to have a piercing because you've been told it's very painful. Just remember this;

A piercing may hurt for a few minutes, but you can have a beautiful piece of jewellery for the rest of your life.
