It was a day like any other day, and as usual, a spur of the moment piercing. I was actually at work for 8 hours, and in getting a full hour break, I decided to take a walk up Granville St. I was becoming a regular at Anatomic Adornments, with the wonderful staff consisting of Jodi, T-Gun, and Syx. I got the sudden urge for a new piercing.

I always liked the way multiple ear piercings looked, and I was getting a bit full with just the regular lobes. I wanted to go with more of a different piercing. I wasn't sure if I should get the tragus or my rook, as you can see, I decided on my tragus (had my rook done at a later date) Anyways, I walked into the shop, said my hello's, asked how everyone was, and asked how much it would be to get a tragus piercing. After I signed the papers, it was decided that Jodi was to pierce me. I chatted with T-Gun while Jodi set up the room.
I found I wasn't really nervous for this piercing, the ears aren't as fun to pierce, as I don't get the rush of adrenaline, but it's fun just the same.
One thing I truly love about Anatomic, is the atmosphere, and color the piercing rooms, it's not dull like a doctors office, or vibrant and creepy, makes you feel more comfortable with the fact that your having a needle shoved through your skin. Jody commented on how my ears were perfect for the piercing and it would fit snugly in the curve of my ear, that's always nice to hear...
I lied down for this piercing, which is nice, it's hard to hold your head still when your nervous...she cleaned the inside of my ear while talking about how she was going to pierce me and cleaning procedure. I believe T-Gun came to watch just before Jodi went to pierce me. After about 4 different glove changes, we were ready to go. And as usual...breathe in through your mouth, out through your nose...breathe in, breathe out...and on the 3rd breath, and a little bit more of a pinch then I expected, the needle was through! I always found it hard to concentrate on breathing when I'm waiting for the pain, I never get the breathing right. Pausing again to change gloves. Not much blood either, I never was much of a bleeder :) Putting the ring in hurt a bit, but usually it does. I've often found that inserting the ring or barbell was the worst part. Jodi handed me mirror to inspect her handiwork and asked how I liked it.
I completely trust Jodi when she said that it would look perfect, boy was she right, it looked GREAT! Salt soaks and a mild soap were the cleaning instructions, and it makes life a lot easier to keep the inside of your ear as clean as possible, for the fact of cleanliness, and also, you don't want icky ear wax coming out on your ring. :( Definitely not attractive...
I always walk out of that shop with a smile on my face, and off I went back to work, the new piercing definitely made my day, and it was fun showing it off at work to co-workers who aren't modified, they get so amazed by it.
Healing time for this piercing is not short, it seems like forever. But it is a cartilage piercing. And getting use to not answering the phone, or sleeping on that side of your face takes some work, but after all the crap you go through, you've got a gorgeous looking piercing, how is that not worth it! And peroxide for any piercing is not good, it'll dry out your piercing and your body can't break it down...so just not a good thing. Because of the long healing period, I have yet to get my other tragus pierced, I think one is alright for now, it balances out the number of piercings in each ear, but I think I plan on getting the other one done soon. :)
Thanks again to those at Anatomic Adornments who have been so friggin' great, definitely the place to go if your looking to be pierced in Vancouver! I know I will be in for more piercings soon!
Feel free to e-mail with any comments or questions, I'd happy to help in anyway I can!
Thanks again to BME for letting me share my story, LONG LIVE BME!
