How to add your photos to BME
GET A FREE MEMBERSHIP & HELP THE BOD MOD COMMUNITY!

Almost all of the photos on BMEzine.com were submitted by readers of the site, and I need your help to allow BME to keep growing. In trade, you get a free BME membership allowing you to look at more of the site, as well as access to the IAM community site.
Images can be of any body modifications or body rites and play covered by BME, BME/extreme, or BME/HARD. Images need to be clear and in focus, and at least 640x480 pixels in size (but the bigger the better). You must also have the legal right to submit the photos (generally that means they must be of you, or you have to be the photographer).
There are three main ways you can your add pictures to the site:
1. Submitting pictures by email
To submit your photos by email, just send them to submissions@bmezine.com. Be sure to include any details about the photo (what's going on, the artist, etc.) you'd like included.
2. Uploading your photos via the web
You can also submit your images by submitting them via a web form, which makes it very easy to type in your own captions and make sure they're labeled as you'd like (and your artist gets credit). You can submit as many pictures as you want (the more the better), but if you don't mind, submit them in groups organized by section. How many would you like to upload in this set?
Note: If you get time-outs or other errors, please submit less pictures
at a time or just email them to us
instead.(Note: If you don't feel like counting your images, just pick a high number; if you leave some of the slots blank, they'll just be ignored).
3. Via your IAM page
When you upload pictures to your IAM page, you can mark off the "submit to BME" checkbox, which will send your picture to BME as well as posting it to your own personal diary. You'll also be able to enter your own caption.
Please click here for information on the standards, and advice on taking a good picture.
FAQ about BME image submissions
I got an error message telling me my pictures were not good enough. What can I do?
The email you got should explain the problem more precisely. For full details on the technical requirements, including solutions to many common problems, click here (actually, everyone should take a quick look at this page before sending in photos).
If you'd prefer (or if you just can't get a picture to work), you can also submit a written story or article about your experiences, or just buy a membership using your credit card instead.
I found a really cool piercing photo on another website — can I send you that?
NO! NO! NO! You can only send photos that you own (ie. pictures of you and
pictures that you took of friends or clients with their permission). Sending in stolen photos is illegal, and if you send in stolen photos we will not post the photos, and we will ban your email address from BME. In addition, if we know who you stole the photo
from, we will forward your information to them. I can not emphasize enough that you may only send in your own photos!
How long does it take to get a reply about my picture submission?
I currently update the images on the site every few days, with it usually taking about a week at most to get your password out to you from when it's received. If more than
ten days pass and you've heard nothing, there may have been a problem with
your email; feel free to resend your image (we'll catch doubles), or if you see it posted on the site without getting a reply, contact customer service to resend your password (sometimes password emails get incorrectly filtered as spam by your ISP).
What type of membership will I get for my submission, and how long
will it last?
The specific length of membership is determined on a case-by-case basis dependent on
the quality and number of photos. All photos that end up in BME/extreme or BME/HARD will get a full-access membership lasting 2-12 months. Genital piercing photos get usually 2-6 months, with male genital piercings getting extreme2 access (to the main galleries like piercings, tattoos, and ritual, as well as to genital piercing, implants, and erotic tattoos) and female genital piercings getting full access. Photos for the public galleries gets extreme2 access for 1-6 months depending on the photos.
All submissions allow you to start (or extend the access time of) a page on the IAM.BMEZINE.COM community site as well. You can also request IAM coupons if you use the web upload tool or submit your pictures via IAM, which breaks up your reward into one month coupons that you can apply to your own or friends' pages.
If you send a picture with BME text (see below in the free shirt section), you will be granted a longer lasting membership than if you had not.
Don't give out my email address, ok?
I won't tell anyone who you are and will do everything I can to keep my member list totally confidentially from all outside sources, nor will your name or identity be revealed to anyone. If you do want your email address or name listed, please state that clearly.
What's this I hear about free shirts?
It's true! While it has been discontinued for a while, I'm giving out free shirts again to people who submit pictures! (Not everyone, it's an intermittent drawing). Two things you have to do to get entered. First, you have to send in a picture which includes you holding up a BME sign of some kind (whatever is cool), or with BME or BMEZINE written on you in marker (the photo also has to show the mod, or has to be taken when you're doing something like suspending, play piercing, CBT, whatever).
Second, you have to make sure I have your mailing address (not email) and shirt size on file — email it separately (without the picture, which should be submitted normally) to shirt@bmezine.com. I'll announce on my iam page and in the what's new area every time I do a draw. Note that the list of addresses has been cleared as of January 2005, so please be sure to resend it.
How am I supposed to know what's suitable content for BME/extreme
or BME/HARD if I can't look at it?
That's why we have sample images! They're about five years out of date, but they should give you a good idea of what the site is about.
I want a full membership, but I keep getting an Extreme2 membership.
What can I do?
To get a full membership, you must send content that can be placed in either BME/HARD or BME/extreme. BME/extreme is for heavy modification (things like subincisions, implants, castrations, amputations, horns, tooth art, etc.), and BME/HARD is for erotic modification and body ritual (everything from heavy CBT to photos of modified people having erotic fun — however they may define that). Again, take a flip through the sample images.
I'm a tattoo or scarification artist. How do I get my mini-portfolio
added to BME?
Find a dozen or more high quality photos of different pieces you've done (you can send as many as you want). Email them to me, and in that email, let me know that you'd like them to go in a mini-portfolio. Include any contact information (your name, studio details, and URL if you have one) you'd like there. If you don't tell me what your name is, what studio you work at, and so on, I can't add a mini-portfolio for you. Once the gallery is added, you can continue sending in photos any time you'd like (make sure you remind me it's for your gallery when you send updates).
I do not currently make dedicated piercer galleries, but if you include your details (your name and studio information), people will be able to search and build galleries about you using BME's search engine.
How do I get a custom bonus gallery on BME/HARD?
If you are a regular contributor to BME/HARD that makes exceptional submissions (or plan on being, and your first submission is large enough to launch a gallery), just let me know if you'd like your photos placed in a bonus gallery rather than the main galleries. Also let me know the name you'd like for your gallery, and what contact info (if any) you'd like included so your fans can write to you. Once your gallery is added, you can update it as often as you'd like (just make sure you tell me that the photos you're sending are for your gallery). Please note that not all submissions are approved for bonus galleries and may be added to the main galleries.
Is it OK if I put my website URL or piercer credit on the photos? How do I do that?
Yes — you are welcome to! As long as it doesn't obscure the photo, you can put anything you'd like on the picture (although ads for unrelated sites and so on will not be accepted of course). If you're a piercer, you may want to put your name or studio name. If you're contributing to BME/HARD and want to use your photos to meet others with similar interests, you may want to paste on an anonymous email address. As far as how, you will need to do that with a photo editor on your own computer.
You can also use the uploading tool (above) to enter your own captions for the photos which can include the artist name, or contact info for yourself if you'd like as well.
Can I still use the photos I send to BME for other stuff?
All submissions become the non-exclusive property of BME. We will label submissions with our copyright notice, and will protect that copyright. However, we don't mind if you use the photos for your own stuff as well of course!
Can I mail in photos for you to scan, or send in a CD-ROM?
As a general rule I really prefer if you email them to me instead. If you need to mail them in please contact me via email to make arrangements.
